An elderly friend of my father was showing an old album to him. There were many very old photographs of my town.
I eagerly saw them. One of the photos was of the ground in front of my house. There was a hut in the middle of the ground I had seen the hut when I was a child. A old man lived there. I used to go to him often and he would tell me stories of ghosts, fairies etc.
Now there is no but there. I don't remember when and where did the hut and the old man go.
One of the photos was of the tree that was a little away from the hut. Now the tree is also not there.
Many of the photos were of people who I had seen in my childhood. Some of them were my father's friends. Almost all of them are no more.
I saw the cowshed of a farmer in one of the photos. It was near my house. Now there a road that leads you to the market.
Watching the photos I was reliving my and my town's past. I'm feeling nostalgic.. I'm missing the old days.

I know what you mean
Now my spelling isn't good
But I think the word is reminiscing
Looking back fondly at photos of the past
We all do it, and I think we all notice the changes that have happened

Thank you, my friend. I checked and found you have correctly spelt the word.
One question, is what I'm feeling called " nostalgia "??
I'm badly missing those days. I know everything changes. We can't avoid it. But those were the golden days of my life.

Yes
Nostalgia is correct.
And quite normal
Means you had a really good childhood and youth which you remember fondly

I understand. This is life. People born in different places meet each other, get friendly; circumstances change, our surroundings change and , but they leave their imprint on our memories. When these memories surface, we miss those people, those days. Life goes on.

Just down the road from where I grew up there was a little wooden house. Just two rooms, and an old man used to live there. I remember he had a walking stick with an ivory horse's head on top and his little house was decorated with a lot of horse brasses (do you know what those are?). He worked with horses in the first world war.

Oh my God!! In the first world war!! He must be a very old man. The man I have mentioned here was over 80, but his memory was very good. I was told he works as a night watchman in our nearby locality. I don't remember when concerned officials destroyed his hut and when he left. I was just 8 or 9 then. But the hut and the face of the old man is still clear in my memory.
