So, thank you for your suggestions for my tea. I decided on rice and pilchard. I had plain boiled rice with tinned pilchard, in tomato sauce. Oh my days, I haven’t had that for years, but it was delicious. I had forgotten just how good it was. Thank you What did you have for your main meal today ?

I’m afraid I had chicken soup for lunch and dinner today. Tomorrow, it will be different!

Chicken soup and tomato soup are the only ones I buy. I make all the others.

That sounds tasty and nostalgic—there’s something really comforting about simple meals like rice and pilchard!

I was not that hungry so I just opened up a can of chicken noodle soup.

We had sausages with boulangere potatoes (made in the slow cooker) and broad beans and sweetcorn. I'm working my way down the freezer; unfortunately we're left with more and more things that it's difficult to use on an ordinary day - 4 or 5 bags each of gooseberries and jostaberries, about 7 tubs of redcurrants (even though we've been eating all of those all year already!) and then there's a big pork joint and a whole duck!
