Think Twice

People should think twice before buying an RV. They are so very expensive to maintain. If the tire goes bad and a mechanic has to show up with a new tire, then it can be over one thousand dollars for the tire and labor. In the past I worked on the phones for customers with RVs and 18 wheelers to get help to them. If it's night get comfortable and wait for morning, and it can still take forever if you are out in the middle of nowhere. Once I had a cushy insurance job, and when I was laid off and my unemployment ran out, I took the job I didn't want at a roadside assistance company. It was very stressful, and I was called every name in the book when they didn't' get their way immediately. Of course, they were dealing with a huge amount of stress also. Do you have a RV of some sort?

Nope. I have a sleeping platform in my car, and I can very comfortably sleep in it if needed. Otherwise, I’ll stick with hotels. RV parks can cost as much as a hotel room anymore!

I didn't know they went up so high for the rv parks. I would rather have a motel room anyway.

@misunderstood_zombie — many places aren’t, but things like KOA are outrageous in price.

I live in a fifth wheel once, but never an RV. I would never have the money for it. A lady in our church bought one, and because it’s so expensive she can’t sell if, and it’s been two years. She planned on living it, but that didn’t pan out.

I hope she can sell it soon, because these things age fast.

I would never have one. First, it would make my house look like a trailer park, not to mention hogging up my driveway. Second, a friend had one and as you mentioned, it was a fortune with constant repairs. And I prefer driving in a car or flying to places I want to visit and stay in a nice hotel with good amenities. I visited my aunt, uncle, and cousins in California when I was 13. They had an RV and we went to Lake Tahoe for several days. I thought it was like a little dollhouse then.

I guess it is like a dollhouse to a kid. my kids loved the one my parents had, but it was a nightmare after awhile.

My relatives and myself would not ever purchase a R V due to the price being out of our budget.
