Would you quit your job if you had a successful online business?

Many people today are trying to build an online business or side hustle while still working a regular job. Some sell products online, do freelancing, create content, or earn through different websites. Sometimes I wonder what I would do if my online business became successful and started earning enough to support my daily needs. On one hand, quitting a regular job could give more freedom and time to focus on the business. On the other hand, having a stable job can still feel safer. I think it would be an exciting but also difficult decision to make. But I won't quit my job, since I have kids. I prefer to have both, online business and a job. You never know what will happen. I have hmo for my kids because of my job, the job provides for it. I am alot of benefits, like my sss get's paid, so i won't quit. What about you? If you had a successful online business that earned enough money, would you quit your job or keep both? Why?

Yeah side hustle just means second job, or sometimes we refer it as sideline here in the Phil.

Well, since I had a successful career with a great pension and never considered an online job ever, I would say stick with your job and try working online to see if it remained successful.

Yeah, that’s actually solid advice. It’s safer to keep your job and just test the online thing on the side first. That way you can see if it really works out before making any big decisions.

If I had an online business and regular job I would have to think long and hard to quit my regular job. I would make sure my savings were quite significant. The health insurance or a lack thereof is kind of daunting.

Yeah, same here. Quitting a regular job isn’t something you just jump into. I’d definitely want solid savings too, especially with stuff like health insurance to think about—that part alone is kinda scary. Better to be really sure before making that move.

If the online business is enough to buy you your life and health insurance, and could provide you with your retirement plan, then you're secured for a lifetime and only then can you quit your job.

Yeah, that’s a good way to look at it. If your online business can already cover big stuff like insurance and your future, then it really means it’s stable. Until then, it’s probably safer to keep your job while building it up.

I would probably have both until I have enough savings to quit the job to focus on the business

The online business would have to be booming for me to quit a job. You have medical insurance to think of and other expenses that must be covered.

Probably but if it's now. I'm not ready I had a lot of things need to be secured first even if I'm still single beside my family and siblings sometimes depend on me if they run out of funds. Everything should be stable first and also rather than online I prefer a business with physical store and I somehow preparing for that before quitting my 8 to 5 job.

Yeah, that makes sense. You’ve got a lot of responsibilities right now, so it’s smart to make sure everything’s stable first. I like that you already have a plan too—especially going for a physical store before leaving your 9–5. No need to rush, you’re doing things the right way ??
