Happy St. Patrick's Day

United States
March 17, 2026 6:31am CST
It took me about 30 minutes after getting up this morning to realize what day it is - that it's St. Patrick's Day. No, I don't have anything green to wear. Green doesn't look good on me. So here in the USA it gives people an excuse to drink excessively and eat green-colored foods and drinks. It started out as a religious feast honoring St. Patrick and morphed into a global celebration of Irish culture and heritage. St. Patrick was kidnapped by Irish raiders as a teenager and held as a slave for 6 years in Ireland. After escaping, he returned to Ireland as a missionary and is said to have used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the Christian Holy Trinity.

And he never drove snakes out because Ireland never had them. I’m celebrating with a doctor’s appointment. Then I’ll go eat green sauce at Chuy’s.

It took me a bit of time to remember as well. I never really knew the history behind it. Now I know a little more.

I like the color green but I do not like wearing it on me. We do not celebrate it here

All "day's" that are celebrated seems to have went to consume something instead of the real meaning.

It doesn't apply here and you wouldn't have any clue in our town that March 17th was a day to celebrate anything No Irish Bars here. Don't think I even know anyone who is Irish on this town To be sure to be sure
