4 Things that God Points Out in These Verses: Jeremiah 44:15-18 New International Version 15 Then all the men who knew that their wives were burning incense to other gods, along with all the women who were present—a large assembly—and all the people living in Lower and Upper Egypt, said to Jeremiah, 16 “We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD! 17 We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm. 18 But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.” 1. Influence is the Greatest Gift and Greatest Power of Women Influence is a gift from God to women – a power that can either build or break the faith of their spouses and children! Our influence as women has a big impact to the future and eternity of our families. 2. Living by Sight and Not by Faith is Detrimental to God’s Promises for Us (18 But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.” ) > Reality does not speak the truth; it only reflects what is happening at the moment. God’s words and promises are the only TRUTH, no matter how impossible things may seem when we view our current situation. Living by sight can lead us to Deception! So Live by Faith. 3. God is Not Just a Reliable Provider, but a Faithful Provider We are blessed not because of our rituals or human efforts, but because God is a faithful Provider! All those detestable things we did in the past that we think gave us a better and more comfortable life, are all lies! Because only God has the ability to provide exactly what we truly need. 4. Stop When God Puts an End to Our Wrong Thinking/Doing. God already put an end to the Israelites’ offerings to other gods, but because they were tested they wanted to go back to their comfort zones and do things their own way –which eventually became their snare, same with what we are doing when we get tired of waiting and doing good as we wait.
