Diwali and Holi are our most important festivals. We get very excited when these festivals come. Last night I thought about that Diwali. I don't remember the year. It was Diwali night. I and my friends were burning crackers. The whole town was decorated. Thousands of people were on the roads enjoying the celebration Every road was heavily crowded with people of our town and those who had swarmed from nearby villages. Sounds of crackers could be heard from every direction. One of my friends asked me to watch a movie at a cinema hall. He was so much insisting that I could not refuse. It was the last show of the night. The road to the cinema hall was bustling with traffic. In front of many houses the "Pala" dance was being held. Even our family was enjoying the dance. We somehow managed to negotiate the path to the cinema hall. When we were entering the hall, there was people everywhere on the road. Crackers were being burnt.. We watched the movie. It was going to be 5 a.m. in the morning when the movie ended. We came out. I was shocked to see the scene was completely changed. There were no people on the road The folk dance was over. Most of the people from villages were lying fast asleep on the mats. No street food vendors, no sounds of crackers. People fast asleep were scattered here and there. The joy and excitement of Diwali in my heart suddenly died. I was feeling frustrated and dejected. I said to my friend I would never spoil Diwali night just to watch a movie. He was silent He was also frustrated and sad.
