i'am doing my mechanical engineering now...should i go for software jobs or stick on to my field....please tell me wat to do

I think if u go for a software thing u will waste 4 years of ur engg......so y do u want to base ur career on some 2-4 months software training rather than 4 yrs of technical stuff...
