Relatives get more active at helping during burial arrangements?

Around here in Kenya it is commonplace for relatives to play dump when one gives a distress cry. A few will turn up when one requests for help to offset bills, raise school fees, or even start a business. Funny, when somebody dies they form WhatsApp groups and raise lots of funds. In some cases, very expensive cars are used in a funeral procession. A lot of food is also prepared for guests. I find it very ironical that relatives will quickly rise into occasion when one dies and are seemingly uninterested to help one that is still alive.

That is shameful. My family is one that rises to the occasion. We aren’t one to ask for help, but when word leaks out that help is needed they all jump at the first chance to come to the aid of that family member.
