Breaking the overspending habit

I have been overspending. I buy things that I want instead of what I need. I always tell myself that I will stop this habit but I am never able to do so. I will give you one example. It happens that I need to go to the supermarket, knowing that I need to buy something specific but I ended up walking around to buy things which I do not need. To be clearer, let us say I need to rush to the supermarket to buy a razor kit. This is something I need. During that instance, I can walk around and buy a notebook which I found aesthetically pleasant, even though if I have more than three new notebooks at home. I think sometimes it's fine to be a little selfish and spend on ourselves regardless of whether we are buying what we need or what we want, but if it becomes a pattern, then it's not too right in my opinion. I am conscious about this habit and I need some guidance and tips on how to overcome it. I want to get better control over my expenses and do better money management.

Better not to stroll in the market, or just bring enough money for the thing you need to buy. Lol!

I would recommend making a list of what you need, and then forcing yourself to only buy that. Do not browse. Look for only the things on your list. There is no extra for me to overspend here. I seem to always only have the money for necessities.

Even if it's not on your list and you spend to make yourself happy and as long as it is within your means, I don't think there's nothing wrong with it. It becomes band when you are spending more than hat you earn.

You should make a list and tick off things as you get them ....ONLY GET THINGS ON YOUR LIST ....then leave the store.

I spend my heard earned money on buying what I actually need and without which I can't go. Earning money is not easy. Spending it is so easy. Someone had once told me about a book, " How to spend a million dollars in a day." Did you read the book??
