Iranian "ghost ships" bypass US blockade at strait of Hormuz

The United states claimed to have block the strait of hormuz few weeks ago but strangely. some ships have been bypassing the US surveillance. including dozens of Iranian ships. Does this blockade make any sense or its just a show of force or face-saving mission?
