Damaged statue of Jesus in Lebanon replaced

April 25, 2026 2:38am CST
The statue of Jesus that was damaged by some Israeli soldiers recently in Lebanon has been replaced , and the soldiers who damaged the statue remain in prison. Is this a face-saving mission or genuine good act by the Israeli government?

It’s probably a bit of both, to be honest. Holding the soldiers accountable and replacing the statue is the right thing to do, especially given how sensitive religious symbols are. At the same time, the strong reaction and attention around it likely pushed for a quick and visible response.

That's true but many people still think the statue replacement is an "eye service"

@ogbenishyna44 Considering how the world actually reacted to this incident, it can actually be an eye service indeed

I believe war is on in that part of the country, when houses, churches and holy statues also get damaged. However, it was a good gesture on their part to restore the Lord's statue.

It’s really disappointing to know their war is about religion, but I believe the Christian faith has nothing to do with it. They should respect that and avoid involving it in the conflict they’re engaged in.

I don't believe that they are in prison Nothing that the nursing terrorist leader of that country says is true.
