Only 3 countries use the Imperial Measurement System: United States, Liberia, and Myanmar. Everybody else uses the Metric System.
It is my personal opinion that the whole world should operate on one standard system and overwhelmingly it should be Metric.
I can do a few imperial-to-metric conversions in my head, but they're just rough estimates.
It was in the 1970's, I was in the 5th grade I think, when the USA decided to start teaching us the Metric System and told us we were going to convert to the Metric System. That never actually ended up happening.
I travel a lot internationally and everything there is measured in Metric units, so I really need to be more savvy in knowing the Metric System. I will make that a goal for me to learn fluently this year.

@looeyville Metric is so easy. the UK is sort of hybrid, metric coinage and temperatures (sometimes) but imperial distance - miles rather than kilometres.

You will quickly discover that you mostly will use the metre and the cm, depending on what you are measuring.
M is usually for height and cm, for smaller quantities, such as snow accumulation, and mm is usually reserved for rain measurement.
I was fortunate enough to learn that form of measurement in grade school. But as I have aged, I do refer to height as feet and inches, as it just resonates easier for me, but on my government issued photo ID, it is in metric.
Driving a car is super easy, you do not covert, you only follow the speed limit signs and either set your cruise control or you keep in pace with what the sign read.
For weight, I personally prefer the old system, but when the babies were young, and measured and weighed at the doctor's office, it was metric all of the way.
Good luck learning the system.
