There’s a very recently retired man lives down the street from me. I’ve never had occasion to speak with him but I’m sure he’s very nice, but he has foibles. Every day he washes and polishes both his cars and mows his lawn. Oh yes, I see him every morning assiduously polishing and mowing. He rarely goes out in his cars, but they get a good polishing every day. Last week I noted to myself that Ronnie was not out with his chamois as usual for a couple of days and wondered what was going on. A friend of my wife who knows Ronnie mentioned that he was sick, and this was true. Then as I was wondering about how Ronnie would fare without polishing his cars and mowing his lawn a gardener showed up to deal with the lawn, and when he’d gone a mobile valeting service arrived to deal with the unpolished cars. Odd character, don’t you think?
