Seeing the Mayor in Person

I was fortunate to witness the current mayor of that city at work during the launch of a new tourism campaign aimed at boosting the local tourism industry. I attended the event and saw firsthand her eagerness to improve the city and its image. She previously served as Vice President of the Philippines and ran for president in the last election, but lost after her reputation was maligned, which she chose not to confront. She later decided to run for a local position, winning decisively, and is now dedicated to empowering the city and its people. Many national politicians have encouraged her to run for the presidency again in 2028, but she has firmly refused, choosing instead to complete her term and end her political career serving her city. Her commitment to her constituents reflects true leadership for the masses. I believe Naga City is fortunate to have her back, and while I may wish for her to run for president, I understand her decision to remain in a place where she is respected and free to fulfill her vision for the city.

This shows that she is not just after a position or tittle, she simply wants where she can serve the people. Am happy for you that you got to see the mayor, and a good one at that.

I think she has a lot of potential if she chooses to pursue it, but she has remained committed to serving her constituents back home. I truly admire her simplicity and humility in connecting with so many people. I wish her success in her endeavors in her community. I’d love to see her run for a national position, though I imagine it would take a lot of convincing for her to leave her people and pursue it.

It's a different kind of race running presidential election.

It’s true there’s a lot of money involved, and she’s not in a position to fight that. But locally, she’s earned the people’s trust and made the right choice, helping make Naga progressive again. I can sense that the people are very pleased with her performance, and many from outside are calling for her return to the presidential race. However, she has already decided to remain as Naga’s mayor for the next three years, committed to staying through the next election so she can see her projects through just as she envisioned.

@rakski I'm not sure if she'll give in to the pressure from people clamouring for her to run for president again. I guess she's not that eager for power and control. She is more concerned with what she can accomplish right now as Mayor of a city.

@rsa101 It is better for her and the people there if she would remain one.

It sounds like she chose to make a difference in the biggest way she possibly could. It’s wonderful that she didn’t let anything get in the way of doing something so important.

There’s a strong clamor for her to run again in 2028, but she’s not entertaining the idea at the moment. She’s focused on her role as Mayor, which ends in 2028. Her current plan is to run again for mayor because she knows the projects she’s working on now need to be strengthened and fully implemented, and three years isn’t enough time to accomplish everything.

I think ending her political career serving the city is a noble thing to do

She has achieved remarkable success in a short period of time. She received funding from an international organization for presenting her projects, such as digitalizing operations to enable more efficient and faster transactions with the government. She was also invited to international gatherings of leaders abroad, without spending a single centavo of government funds for her travels. The inviting organization covered her trip and accommodation so she could attend and share her insights. Unlike typical politicians who aim for the highest positions in government, she chooses roles where she can best serve and put her ideas into action.
