Silly boy.

So I got chastised twice today by strangers, and that’s on top of wifely admonishing. The first was in the train station in Le Mans. A silly man was trying to prevent me from going into a cafe and I was having none of it. I pushed on passed him and he berated me quite officiously and eventually I realised that he was a policeman trying to isolate part of the station because there was an abandoned package somewhere. Suitably chastened I slunk away amid profuse apologies. Then, again at Le Mans train station, I looked around for a suitable receptacle into which I could throw my empty paper coffee cup and other rubbish. I saw a basket and jettisoned the trash only to quickly discover that the basket was attached to the front of the bicycle of a very indignant woman. Silly place to park a bike. Oh squirm. Then tonight I was telling the woman who owns the delightful house we’re staying at in Bayeux the reason for our visit - to see my brother. I explained that I hoped to take him into town for lunch in his wheel chair, at least that’s what I thought I was saying. I wondered why the woman was looking at me in a bewildered kind of manner with her mouth hanging open, and it was only later that I realised that instead of using a wheelchair to take my brother out in, I’d said that I’d be using a flying carpet. Easy mistake to make. I’m going to feel so foolish next time I see her. I’m feeling foolish now. I really must brush up on my French.

At least your day was not ordinary and boring and kept you on your toes.

Wow a flying carpet outing! I'd be astonished too! So tell us - what's the correct French for wheelchair and what for flying carpet?
