Gazumping

I ran into the word "Gazump" on Words With Friends a while back and I made myself a note to talk about it here at some point on myLot. GAZUMPING - means if you're selling something, you accept a verbal offer from somebody then somebody else offers you a higher price and you take their offer instead before the "contract" is legal and binding. It's gazumping. Did you know this word? Have you been gazumped?

@looeyville There used to be a lot of gazimping went on here with regard to house sales, not so much now. An elderly lady who I was speaking to in the course of my duties a few years back told me that her son had been bamboozled 3 times while trying to buy a house. Took me ages to realise she meant that he’d been gazimped.

Never been gazumped, but about 20 years it was all the rage and regularly in the news
