"When You Care Too Much, Until You Don't"

Have you ever experienced this? When you have a problem, you can't rest until you find a way to solve it. But then suddenly, you just lose all motivation?
For me, last Monday our case that we referred to the OSG suddenly had an issue. Even though I wanted to go home early to rest, I still searched for related jurisprudence and sent it to my coworker. It felt like I was just doing it for compliance, then I went home, lay down, and told myself I'd just scroll on social media. But instead, I ended up searching for more jurisprudence. I didn't notice the time - all I did was search and read cases until I fell asleep.
When I got to the office, my coworkers were already discussing it so I joined in for the brainstorming. I had inputs but I still wasn't satisfied, so I searched again. But by afternoon, I approached a coworker and told them what I found. Then they suddenly said, 'That's enough. Let the OSG deal with it, they're the ones who filed the MR so let them handle the problem.'
I just froze. I went back to my seat like nothing happened. This morning they brought it up again in the office, but I lost my drive. I don't care anymore, I don't know.
Have you experienced that too? That feeling where you really want to do something, but then you suddenly lose all drive?"

I can’t really relate to the terms you’re using, but from your discussion, it seems you might be a government lawyer connected to the Solicitor General. I think your feelings are valid—there may come a time when you lose interest, especially if your ideas aren’t recognized by your peers. Still, I hope you keep going, as it’s in a lawyer’s nature to keep seeking answers from the law.

@Soobinah I hope you've regained your drive. It’s draining to pour so much energy into a problem, but pushing through for the presentation shows real professional integrity. Reaching that milestone, fulfilling your duty, and recognizing that you did your best are essential steps toward reclaiming your passion.
