What my APE found that i Didn't expect

Today we talked about the date when we’ll continue our Annual Physical Examination. The plan was just to list our names because it’s so hard to fall in line and get a schedule at the government hospital. So when we got there, I immediately talked to the nurse so we could schedule our ENT checkup. But unfortunately, Monday was the earliest because the doctor wasn’t available. We went to the ophthalmologist instead since one of our companions hadn’t gone through that yet. While waiting for them, we saw that there was an HIV screening and it was on our checklist, so we lined up for that. The process was quick and we finished it. We didn’t get to do the ENT today, but at least we got one more test done. That makes 4/10 tests completed on our checklist. I wonder when we’ll actually finish this? Haha we started this last May 8. I hope we can finish it soon so we can finally talk to the doctor. My x-ray result wasn’t good - I found out I have scoliosis now. I want to ask the doctor what I should do. In my medical last 2024 I didn’t have scoliosis yet, it just showed up now. That’s why annual physical exams are really important - you find out about health issues you didn’t know you had. It’s better to catch things early than to find out when it’s already serious. How about you? Do you get checkups annually too? Or only when you feel something’s wrong?

Usually, scoliosis progression is slower in adults than in children. We usually have check-ups every 6 months or yearly as well

My sister didnt know that she has scoliosis until she was about to gave birth to her first born. she had an emergency CS because of that. I really wanted to have check up at least every year to know the status of my health. As i get older I became more health conscious.

Wow! 4 times a year! that's nice. I can't even barely manage to finish all my APE in one month. I just wanted to finish all the tests in private hospital but we cant. They dont allow us to get our tests in private hospitals for our APE.

I’m surprised scoliosis just showed up now in your X-rays. My late mother was diagnosed as a child, and had to wear a special shoe for a while. I hope they have some helpful things in mind for you. Maybe a chiropractor or physical therapist can help you. I see a variety of doctors during the year because of my established poor health, but once a year my primary care does make me come in for a lot of blood tests to check things like cholesterol, thyroid, and such. My last checkup revealed I’m having some nutrient malabsorption, so I’m supposed to get more protein in my diet.

I'm planning to visit physical therapist but I will wait first what will be the advise of our doctor. Actually, I was very surprise since i dont have really any issue with my back, sometimes it hurts but i just stretch a bit.

True! That is why at the very least it's important to get checked at least once a year. Don't worry so much about your scoliosis especially you're an adult already. Maybe that's just mild or very minimal curve? Unless you're bothered by back pain? But if you want for your peace of mind, you can have that further checked by an ortho. I have scoliosis too and mine is moderate curvature at 31 degrees. That's an S curve.
