1000 Miles But Wait There's More!

It took me 26 hours to write this. Not due to some writer’s block or anything. It was a pain block. I barely could type for 26 hours.
Let’s back up. Yesterday was our weekly Wednesday Project Hero ride. Coincidentally, I needed to ride 25 miles to reach 1000 for the year. I live just under 2 miles from the meetup point, so I ride there and back (the ride back is a bit longer because I have to loop around a park on the way home.) So we did a 20-mile route, which would cover my mileage needs.
We rode south into the Denver suburb of Littleton and back. It was in the high-80’s, a wonderful day for a bike ride. We stopped at Andi’s Frozen Custard on the way back for a nice, cold treat.
Meanwhile, back at the park, as I was making a left turn into the parking lot that serves as our meeting place - about 10 seconds before the end of the official ride - I swerved into another cyclist that I didn’t know was there (my fault. He said nothing to indicate he was there, but I failed to signal my intentions for some reason, which I usually do. So, 95% my fault. He was too close to me, but again, I didn’t signal.)
Anyway, I’m the one that ended up crashing. I hit pretty hard, nothing broken, but my knee is pretty scraped up, and I jammed my shoulder pretty bad, which is why it took me 26 hours to write this. Pain. It still hurts and is plenty sore, but at least I am able to type now.
But I got my 1000 miles!

Just now
Thank you. Still in pain, but have more range of motion today.

Nothing like getting a scraped-up knee medal for your 1000-mile award.
At our age things feel terrible for a day before they start to ease up, so I hope you’re feeling better now.

Better than yesterday, that's for sure! I might even be able to ride again in a few days.
I'm good for on "my fault" crash every year.
