How did Curacao qualified for the world cup

Before now, the nation-Curacao was relatively unknown until I saw them played against Germany in the world cup yesterday. They equalized 1-1 against Germany , only to get thrashed 7-1. I had to search for their qualifying group stage only to discover that they played the likes of Aruba to qualify for the world cup.

They are mostly Dutch league players, non born on the islands

That's interesting, even many of the Netherland players are black and mixed race.
