With the Tour de France just a couple weeks away (the men will race all of July, the women’s Tour starts August 1st,) I’m highlighting cyclists you are likely to see in the upcoming races: American riders on the men’s side, and my favorite racers in the women’s peloton on the women’s side. Today, allow me to introduce Canadian National Champion Alison Jackson, riding for the St. Michel-Preference Home-Auber 93 team.
Blessed with one of the women’s peloton’s biggest personalities, Alison Jackson was born in Alberta in 1988. She breaks into quirky dances after a race win, fans bring her burgers and donuts and the like while they watch the race from the side of the road; basically, she seems to enjoy her job.
Nicknamed “Action” Jackson (naturally,) Alison’s results include (in addition to her 3 wins as Canadian Road Race Champion) 1st place in the overall points classification in the 2022 Tour of Scandinavia, 1st Stage 2 of the 2024 La Vuelta Espana Feminina, and 1st overall at the 2025 Gracia-Orlova stage race.
The biggest win of Jackson’s career thus far, however, has been her win at the 2023 Paris-Roubaix Femmes. (The men have been racing the cobbled “Hell of the North” since 1896. The women didn’t get their own edition until 2020, so her win was still fairly historic, just the third woman to win the classic.)
And yes, Jackson broke into a funky dance after winning!
