Abandoned homes

I have a weird fascination with abandoned houses. I always wonder why they are abandoned, who owns them, and how long they've been abandoned. I always wonder what the homes looked like when they were lived in. I like to picture a time when families probably gathered around the table or around a Christmas tree. I think about the memories a house can hold, and then think about how sad it is that the home is no longer lived in and left in disrepair. My house was sort of abandoned before it was burnt down, and the property was sold. When my mom left my dad, my dad could no longer afford the upkeep. He then ended up moving in with his girlfriend a few years later. My dad owned the property but couldn't afford it. The house ended up becoming rundown because he couldn't afford to keep the heat on, and the pipes burst. We were barely keeping it together when my mom lived there. They bought it for five thousand dollars back in the 80s, and it had been through a fire and needed some work, which my parents did the work. They had fixed it up, but a year after I was born, my dad lost his job and got on disability due to his many chronic health issues, and they struggled. My mom eventually found a job and was able to keep the roof over our heads, but houses require a lot of work. She always managed to keep the repairs up, but after she left, my dad couldn't keep up with the repairs on his disability check alone, and after he moved in with his girlfriend, it just sat vacant. Some people would break in and steal stuff because we still had some stuff there. We were basically using the house for storage for some of our old stuff. We made visits there regularly, so people knew it wasn't completely neglected, but people can be jerks. That house was a big part of my childhood, so it was sad to see it in that shape and to see people breaking in and intentionally stealing and ruining things further. We kept the doors locked, so they broke in through the windows. I think my own experience with an "abandoned" house has made me wonder more about others and why they are abandoned. Our house, you could tell at least had people stopping in, I've seen some where they don't look like they've been touched for years. I was happy to see the nearby abandoned home near us has had people there working on it. I keep hoping someone will turn it back into something beautiful. The home looks like it was gorgeous back in its earlier days. It's an older home built in probably the late 1800s or early 1900s. I'd love to see it lived in again. There's a small abandoned home outside of town that I've been curious about for years, but I have been unable to find an exact address. I'd love to learn more about it and who owned it. I always think about the people who abandoned it and what they must have been going through. There's usually a sad reason attached. In our case, it was a divorce and the inability to keep up with repairs, which isn't the worst story, but still a little sad. Do you ever wonder about abandoned homes? Do you ever wonder about the history behind them? I've found I also love old architecture and the full history of homes, and it's so interesting putting names and faces behind homes.

I have also a curiosity about this; I would love to explore old houses to see if they are or are not haunted,

I am not so concerned about finding out if they're haunted, but more curious about what they look like and what the family has left behind. I love looking at old houses.

In my former neighborhood there was an abandoned house that looked like it was haunted. In my current neighborhood there is a home for sale close by.

We have about three or four abandoned homes near me, and a couple of them look like some people are finally doing some work on them. One was recently sold after someone was in there doing work on it.
