Since the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift starts Aug 1st, I’ve been highlighting some of my favorite female cyclists; today, we’ll take a look at the Queen of Cycling, the G.O.A.T., Marianne Vos.
Dutch rider Marianne Vos races for the stacked Visma-Lease a Bike team. Born in 1987 in the Netherlands, Vos is the most highly-decorated female cyclist of all time. In fact, her list of accomplishments is so long that it requires its own, separate Wikipedia page.
She has raced it all: road, cyclocross, mountain bikes, gravel. Listing her individual wins is an exercise in endurance because there are so damn many.
In cyclocross, Vos has 7 x National Championships and 8 x World Champion titles.
On the road, make it 4x National Champ; 1 x European Champ; and 3 x World Champion. (Plus, an Olympic Gold Medal!)
On the track: 3 x National Champion; 2 x World Champion; 1 Olympic Gold Medal.
She also has 1 Gravel World Championships win under her belt.
Mountain Biking: 4 x National Junior Cross Country Champion.
Vos was sidelined for much of this year after breaking her collarbone in a crash during La Vuelta Feminina. This weekend’s Volta a Catalunya was her first race back. And she appears to be in fine form, placing 2nd on Stage 1, and winning today’s Stage 3.
The Queen is back!
