I feel adding 48 teams in world cup soccer was a waste

Previously 32 teams used to contest in world cup. Now 48 teams contest. It is a waste. Just because Morocco went to semifinals last time there were 8 African teams like Algeria, Congo, South Africa, Egypt, Ghana. They did create a sorry picture. For Asian teams it was worst. If Japan defeated Brazil then there would have been a win win case for Asia. Other than Japan rest of the teams were hopeless including Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, Jordan. I feel the 32 teams affair was better. This world cup experiment was a flop experiment.

I know that many of the UK are fanatical about football except l cannot stand it. I am glad many nations are being given the chance to play as those countries many people are fanatical about football too.

thanks Gary but those teams should also have a hunger for victory. Just getting a chance in world cup and getting knocked out in first round is disappointing. A lot of good soccer teams of Italy, Hungary, Poland, could not qualify who had great soccer history at the cost of Egypt, or Jordan, or Iran whose performance was not upto the mark.

It certainly made little sense. But the ratings overall sure have been tremendous. It still would have been better for everyone to have had the fat trimmed.

Teams like Spain and Portugal face each other in round of 16. These teams would have met each other in round of 8 if 32 teams qualified. The 3rd teams of each groups who have qualified had played hopeless football. Having more Asian and African teams was surely bad decision

I agree. 32 teams was okay. I wonder why they increased the figure
