I just happened upon this when I finished the Prime Video limited series I was watching (The Better Sister).
Apparently it's from 2016-2018 (3 seasons) and stars Eric McCormack (from Will & Grace) as an FBI agent but also as a traveler from the future coming back to now to save the world from itself. He is met and joined by an unlikely group of fellow "travelers" who have taken on host bodies, to fulfill their mission of saving the world.
I've watched about 6 episodes so far and it's really good. I like it. The internet describes it as follows:
"Special operatives known as "travelers" have their consciousness sent back in time to inhabit the bodies of individuals who are about to die. This process allows them to minimize their impact on the timeline while carrying out missions directed by an artificial intelligence known as the Director. The travelers aim to prevent catastrophic events that could lead to the collapse of society in their future"

It sounds like a good show. Hey, do you have Hulu? If you do, try the show Timeless. It kind of sounds a bit like the show you described with time traveling and trying not to change history, but when it got canceled they did a two hour wrap up movie. It was such a good show!

What a cool concept! The thing about the people being about to die is a neat twist. That will allow them to keep using new actors, as well.
