Well howdy! In two weeks I’ll be in a very crappy mood because it’ll be colonoscopy prep day. That’s two weeks from now, and while I’m enjoying a full meal that doesn’t taste like banana popsicles, apple juice, or spiked Gatorade right now I’m not going to think about it! Here’s today’s song with a jukebox reference. Growin’ Up - Bruce Springsteen I love that first Bruce Springsteen album. It’s so devoid of the commercialism of the Born in the USA era stuff. Not that I don’t like that album, but you listen to this one and you wouldn’t think it’s the same person. Teenage rebellion, angst, and everything else all crammed into a three-minute song. It’s sad to think that this song won’t ever get radio airplay again (yes, they did play it back in the mid-70s!). That’s okay, when radio said “tune in” we tuned out. Growin’ Up Written by Bruce Springsteen Recorded by Bruce Springsteen From Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J., 1973 JUKEBOX LYRICS: I had a jukebox graduate for a first mate

So he could play this 80 times in one show, then. I did the math.

Have you ever seen that spoof he and Jimmy Fallon did of “Born to Run,” poking at Chris Christie? There’s a place where Bruce goes, “It was longer than one of my own damn shows.”

@teamfreak16 — the audio is still up, but they’ve taken the actual video performance of it down. There are clips, however, of Fallon and Springsteen dressed identically. It’s a hoot.

You never know, some DJ somewhere might just read this and play the song.

Given that most of our over-the-air “broadcast” radio stations are corporately owned now, if the DJ did he got fired. “You KNOW you’re only supposed to play ‘Dancing in the Dark’ or ‘Born to Run’ from him!”

@FourWalls Stuff like that doesn't apply here. Although there are some stations that won't play a certain smarty suspected pedo Peter Pan of pop anymore Or Gary Glitter But they still play MJ

I hadn’t heard this one. I get my first colonoscopy this year, and I will get it. I’m not messing around with colon cancer. My aunt had stage four colon cancer, and twenty years later she’s still here, but that’s a tremendous blessing not everyone gets.

I had my first one at 40 because of the family history. I remember my maternal grandfather having that colostomy bag after his surgery for a few months, and there’s NO WAY I’m risking going through that. One day of discomfort is infinitely better.
