During my last visit to Dubai, one of my friends told me to come along with him into the desert to watch a falcon eating meat. The Falcons are carnivorous, birds, and they are kept chained to a pedestal to eat their meat, which is raw. The reason is simple that in case they leave them free, they will fly away.. The falcon is a very popular bird in the UAE and is used as a sporting game. Many of the elite keep Falcons as pets, but one has to be careful as they can be dangerous as well. In the hot desert, these birds can survive, unlike other animals. Surprisingly some of these bird do get domesticated and do not live their owners. By the way, keeping a number of falcons as pets is a status symbol in this region..
