After all the songs without “jukebox” in the title, we’re in the midst of five consecutive songs with that feature!! And will you look who’s showing up on one of my lists? A shock, I know.
One of the world’s greatest guitarists shines on today’s song.
Jerusalem on the Jukebox - Richard Thompson
HOW good is Richard Thompson? It takes an entire bluegrass band to replicate his solo guitar work in “1952 Vincent Black Lightning”! This guy can play the daylights out of a guitar and not even work up a sweat. Seeing him solo, when it’s just him, acoustic guitars, and his wonderful sense of humor, is best (how I’ve seen him both times).
I discovered Thompson the best way: I went into a record store, and the clerk, whose taste I trusted, said, “You’ve gotta hear this album.” So I bought it. Forty years isn’t a “lifelong obsession,” but it’s up there.
Enjoy one of the greats of rock and roll AND folk (he was in Fairport Convention) that you’ve never heard.

No neither hubby nor I have heard of this artist or this song. Kinda requires an acquired taste.
