The Only Soap Show I Watch on the TV

There are countless soaps on the TV these days. They are in Hindi, the national language, and all regional languages. I live in Kolkata and Bengali channels are quite popular here. But as for me I find them quite unattractive and even boring. However, I watch a Bengali serial regularly. I find it quite down to earth and realistic. Perhaps it attracts me for another reason. It deals with a girl from a rustic village aspiring to be a doctor. There are also marital and romantic problems the main characters fall into. My daughter herself as a medical student has been fighting problems of different kinds and I get hints of my child's life in her medical college in this soap. The title of the soap is "Kone Dekha Aalo." I don't quite understand the meaning of the title but perhaps it can be translated roughly - The Light of Watching the Bride"

Sounds interesting. I remember when I first started living in Latvia everyone was interested in Argentinian soap opers, In the US a lot of people watch soap operas in the afternoons.

Back in the early 1980s when I was in High School and College, l watched some popular daytime soap operas here in America. One was "All My Children" and the other was "Days Of Our Lives".
