Tour de France Update - Sean Quinn

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about a few U.S. cyclists competing in the Tour de France. Now that it’s over, I thought I’d update how the Americans did in the 3-week race. I totally spaced Sean Quinn out, though. Former U.S. Road Race Champion Sean Quinn (Los Angeles, California) raced in only his second Tour this year (he raced in 2024, a bad knee injury kept him out last year,) riding for the American-based team EF Education-Easy Post. Quinn made noise early in the Tour, starting Stage 4 down over 5 minutes to the race leader. He got into the breakaway, and was competing with Norway’s Torstein Traeen for the overall race lead. He ended up 4th on the stage, just 28 seconds out of the Yellow Jersey. It was the closest he would come to leading the Tour. Quinn ended up finishing the Tour in 19th place, 1:47:05 behind winner Tadej Pogacar (he finished 78th in 2024.) He was the third-highest placed U.S. rider. Quinn and his EF team did have a huge success - Ecuadorian teammate Richard Carapaz won the hotly-contested competition for the King of the Mountains Polka Dot Jersey (most consistent climber,) so Quinn definitely did his job during the 3 weeks.
