My former auto insurance company became very expensive, and last year I decided I was getting rid of them. Not only did they charge for your insurance but they had a membership fee you had to pay. What the heck? This isn't a club..it is auto insurance! Actually, I had homeowners with them too until last year I decided to drop both of them and find different options. I knew I should have called them about this membership thing because guess who got something about it in the mail..renewing it or whatever. It has discounts for different events I don't go to..well I went to the State Fair once with their discount but it was less than half price off. So anyway, one thing last year they made me pay this membership took it out of my account when I was cancelling. I couldn't get a refund, which ticked me off. I saw a bunch of agents going out to lunch when I was at the office. I thought..yeah on my nickel. Well bye, bye and good riddance. When I first signed up the agent was helpful getting everything up to snuff for the underwriter, but other than that..bad company..although they supposedly have a good reputation..but I didn't have any claims when I had them so I wouldn't know.

It is illegal not to have it here. It is required for both driving and if you have a mortgage on a house it is also required. You would be stupid not to have it in the first place.

@snowy22315 oh ..okay. It's not a thing here. A lot of us don't have insurance. It's a luxury for the rich

Actually I have them now for auto..and another company I like for Homeowners. Yes, I know I am foregoing a bundle discount..but believe me it isn't any cheaper than what I am doing.
