We have come to a reputed school in South Kolkata for the exam I wrote about in my last discussion. While I'm typing these words the candidates are in the classrooms dealing with the difficult medical questions sent by the Union Public Service Commission , A high level testing body of the Central Government. Our child is one of the candidates. To come to the exam venue I rose at 3 a.m. Woke the daughter and her mother. We cooked some simple food for breakfast and lunch. The hired car arrived at 5 but we were able to start our journey at 5.25. The normal time it takes about two and a half hour to reach Kolkata. But as the roads were clear in the morning, the driver covered the distance in less than two hours. We were well early in time. The checking of credentials began at 8 and the examination itself got rolling at 9.30. There are 288 candidates at this exam centre but from the roll numbers indicate the competitors are over 6 lakh (600,000) for 1300 posts.. The exam will be over at 4 p.m. Hope the result will be happy.
