The first in an occasional series from me ….. Highlighting events that happened in years gone by …… 1492. Christopher Columbus left Spain on his first voyage to America……he was actually searching for India. 1914. The very first ship passed through the Panama Canal 1926. Electric traffic lights were installed at Piccadilly Circus. The very first in Great Britain. 1963. The Beatles played their first gig at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
