Bike Leans - ...And Out Come the Wolves

Another day, another fence art bike lean. I took this one yesterday during our Project Hero ride, on the Highline Canal Trail that runs 71 miles through the Denver Metro area. It’s my gravel bike, Agent Gravel, with a life-size painting of the cover of Rancid’s 1995 album (their 3rd,) …And Out Come the Wolves. We have a walking Rancid encyclopedia here on myLot, @crossbones27, so any inaccuracies in this post should be easily spotted by him, but here goes. Formed in 1991 in Berkeley, California, Rancid are one of the bands credited with bringing punk rock back into the mainstream during its boom in the 90’s. …And Out Come the Wolves played a large part in that - the album was certified Platinum in 2004. Punk bands making Platinum records was virtually unheard of back in the day - for instance, I figured I’d compare a Bad Brains album for sales. There are no sales numbers available for Bad Brains (one of the most influential punk bands in history,) suggesting that this one album might possibly have outsold Bad Brains’ entire catalog. …And Out Come the Wolves was just the second punk record to sell a million copies on an indie label (The Offspring were the first.) The cover of …And Out Come the Wolves is a photograph of guitarist Lars Frederiksen sitting on some steps. It’s a tribute to the cover of O.G. hardcord band Minor Threat’s eponymous debut EP. This artist translated the photograph over to paint pretty well - whoever paints these does an outstanding job recreating album covers, judging from their back fence. And now, it’s immortalized as a bike lean. Link is to the official video for “Time Bomb” from the album:
