Today’s bike lean is the final piece of new fence art. Until they put new art up, at least. I took this photo of my gravel bike, Agent Gravel, with Prince, on Wednesday, during our weekly Project Hero ride. I could just leave the rest blank. It’s like writing about Frank Sinatra, or Miles Davis, or Michael Jackson, or Elvis Presley. Their lives are pretty much common knowledge. There’s nothing to add. But did you know?: His real name was actually Prince. Prince Rogers Nelson. He was the first artist to have the number one film, album, and single at the same time (Purple Rain, Purple Rain, “When Doves Cry.”) Frank Sinatra didn’t even manage that feat. Prince was a multi-sport athlete in high school. If you’ve never seen footage of him playing basketball, dude could ball. He even had a basketball court in his backyard. He did not like his name when he was young and called himself “Skipper.” (“Skipper and the Revolution” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.) He was born with Epilepsy and suffered seizures when he was young. Billboard Magazine ranked Prince’s 2007 Super Bowl Halftime Show as the best ever. He set the bar at possibly unreachable heights - Katy Perry certainly didn’t come close. Was this all common knowledge, or did you learn something? We miss you, Prince.
