What A Hot Month

@Juliaacv I can understand. It's very humid here as well. Today, the forecast said humidity is at 75%.

Yes, quite unpleasant, but we have had several of those days this week alone. And honestly, if not for the heat, the a/c does play a significate role in lowering the humidity level within the buildings. We reside in the middle of the Great Lakes, only an hour one way from 1 lake and less than that from the other lake. We have quite moist air.

I really dislike these extremes.

I feel sorry for anyone in a classroom that doesn’t have a/c although in our region it is mandatory for all Catholic schools.

We had alot of bad storms last evening, but the humidity is thick as could be this morning again.

@Juliaacv I know hoe you feel since stepping outside in the heat outside takes a toll on me.

It is a hot temperature, even though it isn't always that hot, we have those days. If you think of a temperature extremely cold, which we also get, then it only serves to reason that there would be a furnace for such days, and why not central a/c for the days that it is very hot. Schools are usually surrounded by a fair bit of asphalt too, a parking lot, a big loop for the school buses to make their drop offs and pick ups, a street, so that heats radiates from those surfaces to the building intensifying that heat. Tax payers, who keep the schools going, are workers also, would they want to work in such conditions, do the teachers, administrative, and custodial staff want to work in such conditions, and then don't forget the students, they aren't as productive if it is too hot. If the rest of the places that these people spend their time in, as well as vehicles (except for school buses) have a/c, it is only normal place to have it in the schools. And oddly enough, even our churches have upgraded systems that provide a/c to those who fill the pews. Today's high is only 28 but it is very muggy outside, and there's lots of that sheet/heat lightening.

@JudyEv The older school buses are not equipped with a/c, but as they retire the old ones, they are replaced with buses that have a/c on them.

@Juliaacv Are you saying school buses don't have A/C? Just about everywhere has A/C here supplying both heating and cooling according to the season.

I know that the humidity can worsen it, especially if one is hours, or all day, in such conditions.

It’s actually a couple of degrees hotter.
