Her is my essay i did on the azaria chamberlain case. For year 10 english. You guys can use it to study if you need help. To convict Lindsay Chamberlain of murder you must be proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. But every single piece of evidence for the prosecution had doubts. We as a jury must make just decision’s and I believe that some of your decisions are hindered by these widespread rumors concerning this matter. Lindsay Chamberlain is innocent until proven guilty. But I do believe that these preconceived believes are clouding our judgment. So I will start with the prosecutions main argument that Azaria Chamberlain was killed in the front seat of the Torano Hatchback and that foetal hemoglobin was found in the front seat. Now I know many of you are jumping to conclusions and saying that Lindsay is guilty. But many eye witnesses stated that this was false and they saw Lindsay go to the car to find some food for her son. One eye witness even stated that they heard Azaria’s cry after the prosecution alleged Azaria to be dead. Under cross-examination Mrs. Joy Kuhl also said that adult blood also passed the test along with orange juice and tomato sauce. The jumpsuit is also evidence for the Crown. The blood stains on the neck of the jumpsuit coincide with their argument. But in defense there are blood stains on the wrists of the jumpsuit this would prove that the dingo dragged Azaria by the arm and changed from arm to arm when the dingo regained hold of the baby. This evidence finds Lindsay innocent. The jumpsuit was found only 300m away from a dingo’s den. Mr. Rex Kuchel a botanical expert, studied the jumpsuit and found seven different types of plant matter caught in the jumpsuit these were found between the road and the place where the jumpsuit was found. This proves that the dingo dragged Azaria along the ground and picked up passing plant matter. If Azaria’s Body was hidden in the camera bag there would have been traces of blood inside the camera bag but there was none. If the baby was hidden in this bag and was killed by a slit neck there would e traces of blood. Nurse Roberta Elston had driven with the chamberlains from the campsite to the Ularu motel on the night of the disappearance. She asked to take the bag sitting at Mr. Chamberlain’s feet but he declined. She noticed that the bag looked full. Now Mrs. Chamberlain said that the bag was used as a general purpose bag. This would explain why it was so full and why it was at Mr. Chamberlains feet. The Un relenting newspaper articles caused a lot of rumours and also publicized a lot of hear say. Rumours, reports and innuendoes influenced people and changed there minds. I believe that some f the members of jury are under this mis-conceived illusion. You believe the media because they are a accredited source and everybody believes them. But we as jury members must stick to the facts. If we do not, I do believe an injustice will occur.
