A Dive Into Obscurity

Father Dowling Mysteries, did you see it? I was talking to my sister about this 1980s American show the other night, and we were wondering if anyone remembered it? It starred Tom Bosley (of Happy Days fame) and Tracy Nelson (daughter of the tragically killed singer Ricky Nelson) as a Catholic priest and nun that solved murder and other mysteries. I believe it aired for three seasons. It was serious, but funny too. Most of all, it was clean, and my parents allowed my sister and I to watch it. Do you guys remember it?

Oh wow yes I remember that show, used to watch it with my family too. Tom Bosley was great in it, so different from his Happy Days role. Shows like that don't really make them anymore, clean and funny at the same time.

I didn’t see it but I do know about it. That series was based on a series of mystery novels by Ralph McInerny in the 70s.

Yes vaguely..it was on PBS wasn't it? I don't think I ever watched an episode, but my mother might have, she watches a lot of PBS.

It originally aired on NBC, but went to ABC its final two seasons. The reruns most likely aired on PBS though. I remember the reruns airing on a couple of different channels.
