A Gift I Never Expected

Today, I received a truly unexpected and touching gift, $254.33 from my previous colleagues. This wasn’t just about the money; it was about recognition, kindness, and solidarity. After my company failed to give me the benefits I deserved, my former coworkers stepped in to show me that my efforts and contributions were valued. The gesture was initiated by a pastor and friend, a fellow colleague whose compassion brought everyone together. Knowing that someone believed in me enough to organize this support deeply moved me. It’s humbling and inspiring to be reminded of the goodness in people and the strength of our connections. Now, as I prepare my words of thanks, I know that no message can perfectly capture how grateful I am. One thing is certain: when my book deal succeeds, I will pay their kindness back, and then some. I look forward to returning their generosity and giving even more than what they gave me. This experience has not only helped me financially in a way but has also filled me with hope and a renewed commitment to pay it forward. One thing I can say, I beleive in karma. If you do good thigns to others it will surely go back to you. It is better to good things no matter how small rather than do otherwisely.

I am SO glad for you. And I also believe you reap what you sow. I’ve seen it in my life, and in the lives of my family. This has made my heart very happy for you.

This made my eyes water a little, honestly. People showing up for you like that when the company didn't is such a beautiful thing. Wishing you all the best with the book, you deserve every good thing coming your way.
