Today is our son's birthday. Golf is his passion. He golfs alone as well as with friends. This past weekend he and his school (old) buddies took a golf weekend. They all gathered, and golfed at 2 different courses. They had a great time. There is such brotherhood between him and his buddies. One of his friends, Randy, who works as a welder, was on a job site last week and encountered a critical injury at work. He was up on a boom, wearing his welder's mask and working. Something near the base of the boom exploded, and the flash fire drew upwards, heading right for Randy. the flames went under his face cover on his mask, he sustained third degree burns on both ears and cheeks. Had he not removed his mask when he did, he would have perished. The buddies are all in various jobs. They all really care for each other. They have discussed with him that the odds of him suffering from PTS is a very real thing. They have all talked, at length, about the possibility of a career change for Randy. At 37 years of age, he is much too young to not work again due to this terrible workplace accident. We have a litigation lawyer in the family. Our son has given Randy her contact information. He needs to think long and hard before signing his name to any agreement of potential payout. So yes, he shot a perfect 9 holes out of 18 on one course, but this weekend, it really was much more than that.
