What causes bad dreams?

For the past couple of days I have been having not so good dreams.
They're not really nightmares. They're the kind of dreams that makes me uncomfortable. And it's always the same person giving me anxiety.
In my dreams, I had to defend him. In my dreams, I had to hide him. In my dreams, he always wronged me.
It makes me tired upon waking up in the morning.
