The Eye Doctor Has Approved My Getting Eyelid Lift Surgery

He's 100% certain that insurance will cover it. He documented it very well and said that I totally qualify for it as a vision issue (not a cosmetic issue).
He was a very nice young eye surgeon. He just moved here from Oklahoma and has only been in this new practice for about a month. He said he's done hundreds of them before.
Here's the slightly scary part. They don't use anesthesia. The give you valium and then they numb the area with a needle, but he said the numbing needle hurts pretty bad but for only 10 seconds.
So I'm scheduled for the surgery on October 28th.

@LooeyVille I think it’s a result of non-experts doing it for reasons of young girls’ vanity rather than a medical procedure.

@xFiacre Oh my! Well thankfully my surgeon doesn't do the cosmetic ones, he only does the medically necessary ones. And he even told me when I was there that he doesn't remove too much skin because it can let too many particles into the eye and isn't safe. From what I read online, most people shouldn't need this surgery until after 40. These young girls are so vain.

Me neither. I never really noticed them from an aesthetic standpoint until my brother pointed it out. The doctor says it's impairing my vision

That's great news that insurance is covering it, glad it got documented as a real vision thing and not just cosmetic. The numbing needle part sounds rough but ten seconds isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. Good luck on October 28th, hope it goes smooth and you can see so much better after.
