Its actually not their newest but I am sure I did not play this one. I was also right, I knew Mike Ness felt Trapped. I been listing to them since 89 and was like he is going to be questioning his decision to sign with Epitaph.
I probably have the reasons wrong, I do not think he feels trapped to sign with Epitaph. I think he feels trapped because he had to sign with Epitaph period. This is a guy who pretty much had to do everything himself. While that is hard, there is a lot of freedom to it. No one ever tried to change him.
That being said I bet the call to Tim Armstrong was funny. Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion calls Tim Armstrong of Rancid and Tim goes I know last song we recorded was not up to par. Brett is like shut up Tim, all your songs are great and you have not been here for a minute.
I was calling to let you know who we just signed, you will never guess.. Tim goes not more Blink 182 style bands.
No, We just signed the legend of Mike Ness and Social Distortion. Tim drops the phone, then comes back and goes, hang on I am flying out now.
All three legends of bands in one room. Can't wait. I know Tim is involved in these cool videos. because both love the old school things and also every song has the Rancid captions, because, I know its hard to believe, but some people have a hard time understanding what Tim says.
Its OK for the good people to get their brains together, we just do not want the bad people to get their brains together.

If they decided to collaborate, that would be interesting to hear.

@crossbones27 - It would be cool, though. Even a 7" split would be cool.

@RasmaSandra Yeah, I think that is why so many people like him. He sings about things no one wants to say but you know they feeling it. That is why he never could lose the punk rock title. We just a rock band. Sorry homie, you just do not know how to be just a rock band and why I call him the punk rock king.

Ness signing with Epitaph after all those years of doing it himself is wild, freedom's a double edged sword like that. That Tim Armstrong bit had me laughing, dropping the phone and then hang on I'm flying out now, totally believe it. Rancid captions being necessary is honestly a fair point lol.

That's the problem with being a loner. I am a lot like Mike Ness. I have to remind myself, not everyone gets what you get. I guess that is where outside people come in handy.
