Festivals bring out all the characters!

We were at a music festival on a previous weekend and it certainly seemed to bring all the interesting characters out of the woodwork! Of course it could just be that there were a lot more people around and therefore a lot more interesting people… Anyway I popped into the supermarket in the middle of town to get a sandwich and there I saw a woman with a sheet of newspaper on her head, held in place with one of those flower garlands that people tend to wear at festivals. I guess it was just an improvised sunhat but it did look pretty funny flapping around her face. Then later I saw a photographer taking pictures of the band on the main stage. Nothing unusual about that – except that she was sitting on the ground, had removed her prosthetic leg, and was using it as a camera stand. Finally I saw several people (separately) with parrot-type birds. This lady had a cockatoo on her shoulder, a man was carrying a grey parrot in a cage and another man had a parakeet walking around on his hat! After all that we were keeping an eye out to see what we would spot next! Sadly that seemed to be it, at least for that weekend. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2026.
