Purged The Expired Medicines Today / myLot

I went through all of our medications in the house today both prescription and over-the-counter to see if there were any that were expired so that I could throw them away I also took the three medications that I no longer take that were prescriptions and put them in a bottle to dispose of at the drug disposal at the local Walgreens Do you regularly go through your drugs, including over-the-counter medications to see if they expired? Some people think an expiration date doesn’t mean anything except that would be a little less potent and I just hang onto them. I had heard that the chemical composition changes.

@looeyville I don’t have any to look through. Wife has also drastically reduced her various meds and daughter too is on nothing in spite of cardiac surgery. Everyone I know is on meds for some reason. So many people see it as nearly a competition to see who gets prescribed the most. So many older ladies also try each others tablets!

It's true Almost everyone I know is on medication. Sometimes all I think that they actually need is a real dose of reality

@Ineeddentures I’d put everyone on cod liver oil if I was a GP. And garlic is a great antibiotic so I’d shovel that into them.

I do look through all of my medicines to make sure they are not to expire.

First, thank you for not flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash. I knew you were too conscientious to do that and put the environment and others in danger. I tend to keep mine for about a year after expiration date in case I am prescribed them again. Since my insurance only pays for 6 prescriptions and I take more than double that, medicine can get very expensive. So if I get prescribed an antibiotic I already have, I get very happy.
