A real variety of work!

This week has involved quite a variety of roles! On Monday and Tuesday I was booked to work at a conference, welcoming guests, handing out name badges, pointing people in the right direction for workshops etc. But when I and another woman showed up it turned out that the first day was supposed to be for the set-up and they were expecting some burly men to help cart stuff around. The venue was literally a bare shell – it hadn’t even been completely finished yet, and just had a dusty concrete floor and pipes and wires strung along the ceiling.
Well we pitched in and spent several hours setting up 75 large folding tables, 150 or so chairs, as well as about 20 poseur tables, some easy chairs and coffee tables, and lots of signs. Then we had to cover all the tables with clean black cloths without getting them covered in cement dust from the bare floor!
The second day was more as expected; once everything was in, the hall looked surprisingly ready and we were able to do our duties with the name badges and such. It all went smoothly and you would never know the previous day was almost a disaster!
Now we have been asked to go and do something completely different on Friday evening; to pose as customers at a new bar/restaurant that’s recently opened. A team of 14 of us is expected to dress for an evening out and spend three hours enjoying drinks and nibbles at a new bar, so they can take photos and video for their promotional materials. I said I was willing to do that; I don’t have any plans yet for Friday so getting paid to enjoy some free food and drinks and get to know my colleagues better sounds OK to me!
What will come up next I wonder?
