This fellow belongs to our neighbours. But they don't know. It's hidden from their vision. Anyone entering our home can see it.
Everyday, ever since I have caught sight of it my tongue and eyes have desired it. But cooking is time taking. So both my sister and I have been consoling our complaining heart.
Yesterday I thought of an alternative and brought a bunch of raw bananas. It so happened that a few days back, a lady gave us a few from her garden. My sister is particularly not fond of them. We had had a raw banana curry decades ago when mother used to make varieties of preparations.
My sister cooked it so well that day that I told her to save a bit for me.
She felt my delight. So when I bought it, she did not protest. She usually does when I bring veggies not of her liking.
Anyway, I look at this fellow and return his good morning wishes now.

It's called plantain flower in English. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients
1 large banana blossom (mocha), cleaned and finely chopped
2 medium potatoes, cubed
½ cup grated coconut
1–2 green chillies
1 tsp ginger paste
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
2 tbsp mustard oil
1 bay leaf
1 dried red chilli
½ tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp garam masala
Preparation
Clean the plantain flower: Remove the tough outer bracts and tiny undeveloped florets. From each floret, remove the hard stigma and the small transparent scale-like part. Chop finely.
Soak the chopped mocha in water with a little salt and turmeric for 15–20 minutes.
Boil it with a little salt and turmeric until tender. Drain and squeeze out excess water.
Heat mustard oil. Fry the potato cubes until lightly golden and set aside.
In the same pan, add bay leaf, dried red chilli and cumin seeds.
Add ginger paste, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder and chilli powder. Sprinkle a little water and cook the spices.
Add the boiled mocha and potatoes. Mix well.
Add salt and sugar. Cover and cook on low heat until everything is well combined and fairly dry.
Add grated coconut and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
Finish with garam masala and a little ghee.

Thank you. This reminds me that one day while going out and on my return from somewhere, I saw only one leaf literally nodding at me (imagine someone calling you with their hand gestures from across the street) when there was absolutely no wind. Later on Insta I saw someone coming up with a video, with exactly the same movement from a branch of a fern tree. So yes, I see you can get to relate.
