Since Trump got into The White House executions are on the up after a long run of falls. Few states have Capital Punishment now but Florida and Texas still particularly active .They cant use firing squads or electrocution any more as its considered too brutal. Now they use lethal injection although that's on the decline as some states banned the use of the chemicals in it to try and stop Capital Punishment across America. I believe they now have to import the ingredients for the lethal jabs now.
Anyhow, in America, one went a bit wrong and the lady ( yes, they kill women too) had been on Death Row forever and finally got the lethal jab. Sadly it was not lethal enough and after TWO attempts to kill her she is still alive today. The great irony is that because she didn't die they had to legally take her to hospital to save her life. The idea of a twitching body left on the execution gurney to eventually die, even for Americans, was a bit much. As she is on life support they have to get her fit enough to try and kill her again. I mean WTF! Its very expensive in America to have a Death row as the state defence lawyers rack up huge legal fees with the state to try and save these guys even though they are often guilty.
Anyhow this lady killed someone as a young teenager and somehow got the death sentence when she clearly had a rotten upbringing. The family of the person killed have no sympathy but reports that the parents of the killer may sue the state for 'inhumane treatment'? Only in America.
Capital punishment was a spectator sport in England back in the day. 5, 10, even 100,000 people would show up to see the gallows in London. In my hometown of Northampton we manged a crowd of 5000 plus to see a notorious gang being hanged on the Kings Racecourse, which they were. They didn't have Netflix in the 18th and 19th century so it was hangings and the local tavern for entertainment . We stropped killing people in the 1950s but America is the last western democracy to still put people to death. The state having the ability to kill is wrapped up in the gun culture there.

Honestly the part about her surviving and then being taken to hospital just so they can try again is hard to wrap my head around. Reading about those huge crowds at hangings in England shows how far we have come, but its strange America is still stuck on this. Makes you wonder who really benefits from keeping it going.

Those who take a life do not deserve to live themselves but I truly believe God will decide their final punishment.
