What balances out a classic country song? Oh, I know!! Let’s go to California for a California band celebrating Tinsel Town. Most of you will hate me for this, but as they say, if you know, you know. Cowboys From Hollywood - Camper Van Beethoven Oh, this band is famous…for other things. Lead singer David Lowery is also the front man for Cracker, and David Immerglück went on to play in Counting Crows. They did have some success with their cover of “Pictures of Matchstick Men.” My favorite, though, will always be “Take the Skinheads Bowling.” This song is a pretty good explanation of what they’re all about: fun. They also had a song on this album called “ZZ Top Goes to Egypt” (an instrumental), so you know this is not a deep, serious band. I love stuff like that, so naturally this California band makes the California list.
